Step by Step Project Update

As many of you will know Fresh have long supported the Christian charity Step by Step for which I’m a trustee. The project helps the rejected from society including the homeless, people fighting addictions, people with learning difficulties or just individuals that are having a tough time.

How does the project work? We get people into manual work on gardening and clearance projects, sorting duties in our warehouse recycling donated items or even working in our charity shop in Llanelli. Much like the disposed of items that we receive, fix up and move on we do a similar thing to the rejected people that come or who are sent to us. We take them in, fix them up and then get them back out there. It's a great work and one all done through our faith in Jesus who does the real work.

In the last 6 months so much has happened. We have opened up a charity shop in the shopping centre in Llanelli, which has been a great blessing to enable us to sell many items from the recycled furniture that we take in. This has both raised much needed funds to pay more wages and provides more work for people taking steps in their development. We have also been gifted a building in St Helens Road in Swansea by a kind Christian lady who was touched by our work and who wants to see the building put to good use in the community. We are planning to open a cafe and food depot here to provide comfort and food to the many that are in need in this area. More news on this when we have it.

During the past 6 months we have witnessed people overcoming alcohol and with others drug addiction with a number of workers now very strong in their new found faith and bodies that were previously broken. So many new faces have arrived with different challenges. So dark are their circumstances to start off with and it's a great joy when we can lead them into a lighter future. This takes time and love and has a few bumps along the road, but it's worth it.

Special thanks must go to Pastor Carl Roberts, his wife Viv, the Step by Step volunteers and the kind people that donate to this charity and keep it going.
